Eilik

Reviewed by us

The best small desk robot without an account or a subscription, and the only one of the three with no camera at all.

Our last Amazon price reading is more than 24 hours old. Amazon does not allow us to publish a cached price past that window, so we show none rather than a stale one. Check the current price on Amazon.

How this is written

We have not handled the Eilik. Nobody on this site has unboxed, charged or played with one. Everything here comes from what the maker publishes, plus the parts it does not highlight: the subscription terms, the privacy policy, the returns policy, the support record and the published specifications. Then we do the arithmetic a gift guide skips.

What we read

  • ·Energize Lab product and specification pages
  • ·Energize Lab privacy policy
  • ·Energize Lab returns policy
  • ·Published battery specification

We buy through the same listings you do, so nothing here is a sponsored unit. If a maker sends documentation that changes a fact on this page, we correct the page and note it.

Buy it if

A first robot pet, or a gift where you do not want to create an account.

Skip it if

You expect speech. Eilik expresses itself through movement and sounds.

What it really costs

The sticker price is not the price.

The hardware figure is the stamped Amazon reading; two-year ownership is that same price plus 24 months of the plan above. Nothing here is a historical price, and we publish no figure at all once the reading passes 24 hours.

Privacy

What it records, and where it goes.

Low exposure Always-on microphone: no · Account required: no
  • ·No account required
  • ·No cloud audio upload
  • ·No camera

What works

  • +No account, no app, no subscription
  • +Two units can interact with each other, per the maker
  • +No camera and no cloud audio, so there is nothing to leak
  • +Thirty-day return window, longer than the others here

What does not

  • −No voice interaction at all, by design
  • −Published battery life is short, so it needs charging often
  • −Positioned as a desk companion rather than a conversational toy

A small robot whose cloud service is the product, sold by a company whose continuity is the single biggest question mark in this category.

Common questions

Is Eilik worth it at the current price?

Our last Amazon price reading is more than 24 hours old, so we have removed the number rather than show a stale one. The rest of this review is unaffected.

What happens if the company shuts down?

Core play does not depend on a server, so the device keeps working. App-based extras would stop.

Does it need an account?

No account is required for normal use, which is unusual and worth knowing.
